Hardware Controls Page

The Hardware Controls page of the Protocol Wizard contains a list box which shows an entry for each defined control and a number of buttons, as follows:

  • Add. This button takes you into another dialog where you can manually define a control to add to the list box.
  • Learn. If you press this button after adjusting one of your surface's hardware controls SurfaceReader will attempt to analyse the MIDI message that the control transmitted and automatically create a definition for that control. You will be prompted to enter a unique name for the control if the analysis is successful. Using this method is much easier than using the Add... button, which is only provided for special cases.
  • Rename. This button prompts you for a new name for the control that is currently selected in the list box. This button will be unavailable if no control is selected.
  • Delete. Pressing this button will prompt you to confirm removal of the selected control from the list box. This button will be unavailable if no control is currently selected.

Once you have defined the controls on your unit, Tab to the Finish button and press Enter to complete your protocol definition.
