Browser support for spreadsheets
To work with interactive spreadsheets in Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 and later, users must have the Microsoft Office Web Components installed and an appropriate Office XP license. Users who do not have an Office XP license can install the components and view them on a Web page, but cannot interact with them. Learn more about installation and licensing of components.
Following are the levels of browser support available when users have the Office Web Components installed and an Office XP license.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and later
Users have access to all spreadsheet features that are accessible from a browser. When data access page Design view in Microsoft Access is used to create a spreadsheet, or when you modify a spreadsheet and save the Web page by using Access, Internet Explorer 5 is required.
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.01, 4.1x, and 4.2x
Users have access to all spreadsheet features that are accessible from a browser, except when the Web page was created or modified and saved in data access page Design view in Microsoft Access, in which case Internet Explorer 5 is required to have full functionality.
In earlier versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and in other browsers, users cannot view interactive spreadsheets. A spreadsheet appears as an outlined box on the Web page.
