How to remove SQL Server 2000 (Windows)

You can remove instances of Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 using Control Panel. Each named instance must be removed separately. When upgrading or maintaining instances, you can remove SQL Server using the Uninstall option in Setup. For more information, see How to uninstall an existing installation (Setup).

You cannot remove a selected component of SQL Server 2000 after it is installed. To remove components, you must remove the entire instance.

To remove a named instance of SQL Server 2000

  1. In Control Panel, click Add/Remove programs.

  2. Select a name of an instance of SQL Server 2000, and click Remove.

To remove all instances of SQL Server 2000

  1. In Control Panel, click Add/Remove programs.

  2. Repeat the removal process for each instance of SQL Server 2000 that is installed.

SQL Server 2000 is uninstalled, but some files may remain. Manually delete directories if any files related to SQL Server 2000 still exist.
