What Is Trigger Reservation, and Why Is It Necessary?

If multiple devices attempt to use the same trigger line simultaneously, hardware damage can occur. Beginning with LabVIEW 7.0, NI-DAQmx 7.0, and NI-VISA 3.0, National Instruments software can track which lines the hardware is using and automatically use any available trigger lines; however, trigger lines used by components from another vendor or old software cannot be tracked automatically by National Instruments software. By reserving a trigger line in MAX, you can tell National Instruments software that a particular trigger line is in use.
