Make a Sale
From Amicus
Glossary Item Box
The most important function of point-of-sale software is selling products. NBS Amicus allows you to sell products in three different ways:
-
the Fast Sales method
-
the Invoicing method
-
Fast Sales with a Touch Screen
These methods can be specified at till level, by accessing the This Register option in the Preferences menu found under File on the Toolbar. The Type of Sale Screen section appears on the Sales tab. THe Touch Screen is activated on the Devices tab.
The Fast Sales method is designed for fast checkout situations such as pharmacies and supermarkets. Products generally have bar codes and fixed prices. In most cases, scanning the bar code with a bar code scanner (or entering it with the keyboard) is all that is required to enter an item into the sale. Items can be quickly processed by scanning them consecutively.
The Fast Sales method can also be used in conjunction with touch screens. Touch screens not only make it convenient for staff to process sales, the use of such screens means that sales can be processed quickly and efficiently too. Note: even if your business uses touch screens, you should first read the How to Make a Sale Using the Fast Sales Screen section, and subsequent sections, of this manual (see below). Those sections explain how sales are processed using the Fast Sales method, and the underlying procedures described there apply whether or a not a touch screen is used.
For specific information about the operation of touch screens refer to the Fast Sales Using a Touch Screen section .
The Invoicing method is designed for sales that require more control over information for every sale. The price and quantity are entered manually for each item, as many products do not have a fixed price. This method is also well-suited to selling services.
If a product in a sale has serial numbers allocated to it in NBS Amicus, either method will allow you to select serial numbers.
