How to use Help

Online Help provides a quick way to look up information as you use ACT! Premium for Web Server. You can view Help on your computer in any Window or dialog box. You can also access tooltips for tools.

The following types of Help are available in ACT! Premium for Web Server:

  • Feature overview - Information in the "About..." topics include everything you want to know about an ACT! Premium for Web Server feature.

  • "How do I...?" Help - The "About..." topics provide a description of ACT! Premium for Web Server features, such as "How do I add a contact to the database."

  • Context-sensitive Help - For an active dialog box, press F1 to display its field definitions.

  • Expanding or drop-down Help - Some topics include bold, blue links. Click the link to display additional information about the topic. For example:

  • Examples and scenarios - Real-world scenarios and examples are included so you can find out how you might use a feature.

  • Troubleshooting - Some topics include troubleshooting tips or links to the ACT! Premium for Web Server Knowledge Base.

  • Notes, Tips, and Cautions - This type of help is indicated by the following graphics.

This signifies a note.

This signifies a tip.

To access Help from any window

  • Click the Help menu, and then click Help Topics.

In the help table of contents, a book icon represents a collection of topics, and a document icon represents a single topic.

A plus (+) sign indicates that there are more topics. Click the plus sign to expand the list. (The plus sign will change to a minus (-) sign. Click the minus sign to collapse the list.)

To access Help in a dialog box

  • Press F1 to display field definitions for the active dialog box.

To display tooltips

  • Hold your cursor over the tool to read the name of the tool.
