Copying annual event fields

If you currently use custom fields for recording annually recurring events, such as your contacts’ birthdays, you can change those date fields to annual event fields. You may do this, for example, so that you can generate lookups for those annual event dates.

You can copy the contents of a field with the annual event contents if the field data type of the field is Date. For information on Date field data types, see Data types.

To copy the contents of a field with the annual event contents

  1. Create an annual event field.

  2. In the Contact window, perform a lookup to find the contacts whose records you want to update.

  3. From the Edit menu, click Copy Field.

  4. From the Copy Data dialog box, select the field you want to copy from the Copy contents of field. For field definitions, press F1.

  5. From the To field, select the field you want to copy the contents to, and then click OK.

  6. To confirm the selection, click Yes.

You can verify that the proper dates have copied into the annual event field by creating a custom report that compares the information in both fields.

All contacts in the current lookup will be affected by this procedure. If you want to cancel this procedure, press ESC. Changes made prior to canceling will remain in effect.
