 Dialup Connection to the network

 

For Windows XP:

 

For each network that you want to dial in to, you will need to set up a profile. This profile remains in your computer until you delete it.

 

To open the Network Connections window, click this button:

 

  1. Click Create a new connection. The Network Connection Wizard window opens.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Select Connect to the Internet, and then click Next; then follow the instructions on the screen.
  4. Click Finish to complete the settings. The Connect Dial-up Connection window opens.
  5. Enter your user name and password; then click Properties. The Dial-up Connection Properties window opens.
  6. Enter the settings you want, and then click OK.

 

 

Now you are ready to dial in. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Click Start, and move the pointer to Connect To. It shows an icon for each network profile you have set up.
  2. Click the icon for the network you want to dial in to. The Connect Dial-up Connection window opens.
  3. Enter your user name and password; then click Dial.

 

 

For Windows 2000:

To open the Network and Dial-up Connections window, click this button:

 

  1. Double-click Make New connection. The Network Connection Wizard window opens.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Click Dial-up to private network. Click Next; then follow the instructions on the screen.
  4. Click Finish to complete the settings. The Connect Dial-up Connection window opens.
  5. Enter your user name and password; then click Properties. The Dial-up Connection window opens.
  6. Enter the settings you want, and then click OK.

 

 

Now you are ready to dial in. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections in the Control Panel. The Network and Dial-up Connections window opens. An icon is displayed for each network profile you have set up.
  2. Double-click the icon for the network that you want to dial in to. The Connect Dial-up Connection window opens.
  3. Enter your user name and password; then click Dial.
