Single Domain Model

This is a simple network configuration comprising one domain only.

An Active Directory domain consists of at least one Domain Controller (DC). Each DC contains a replica of the Active Directory database.

In a single domain network, network administrators can administer all servers connected to the domain, because security is centralised at the domain level. The single domain model is the building block for all multiple domain networks.
