How do I use 9 data bit framing?

While NI-Serial software and hardware directly supports only 5, 6, 7, and 8 data bits, it may be possible to use the parity function to create a ninth data bit, depending on your application. To create and control a ninth data bit, enable parity and set parity mark or parity space for a ninth bit of either a 1 or 0, respectively. However, you must do this every time the ninth bit changes state, and thus it may not work for high-throughput applications.
