Microsoft Windows デスクトップ サーチではインデックスの作成が重要です。Windows デスクトップ サーチをインストールした後、コンピュータ内のインデックス作成が完了するまでしばらく時間がかかります。作成されたインデックスは、ファイルや電子メール メッセージが追加または変更されるたびに更新されます。
Windows デスクトップ サーチ creates and maintains a desktop index of your computer. The desktop index allows you to find specific words or phrases in e-mail messages, calendar appointments, documents, photos, and other files on your computer. Windows デスクトップ サーチ updates the index every time that you add or change a file or an e-mail message.
Windows デスクトップ サーチを初めてインストールする場合、指定したファイルの場所を対象にインデックスを作成します。インストール ウィザードが完了していない場合、Windows デスクトップ サーチはマイ ドキュメント フォルダと電子メール メッセージのインデックス作成を行います。また、インデックスの作成対象となるファイルを変更できます。初回のインデックス作成が完了すると、コンピュータを検索できるようになります。
While Windows デスクトップ サーチ is indexing your computer, the indexing icon 
in the Windows notification area is animated. You can right-click this icon to view indexing status, change indexing settings, stop or pause indexing, or get help.
注意
既定では、コンピュータがビジー状態の場合やバッテリで稼動している場合は、Windows デスクトップ サーチはインデックスの作成を一時的に停止します。
