Adjust line breaks for East Asian text

  • Place the insertion point in the paragraph where you want to apply a line break control.
  • On the Format menu, click Paragraph, and then click the Asian Typography tab.
  • Under Line break, select the Use Asian rules for controlling first and last characters check box.

    • Tip

    To change the designated line-breaking characters, click Options on the Asian Typography tab. Under First and last characters, click Custom, and then enter the line-breaking characters in either the Cannot start line or Cannot end line box.
