About spreadsheets published from Excel
When you publish a spreadsheet from Microsoft Excel, you can open the Web page and make design changes in Microsoft FrontPage or data access page Design view in Microsoft Access. You can also open the Excel worksheet (.xls file) if you saved it, make changes, and republish the spreadsheet to the same Web page. If you didn't save the Excel worksheet, you can export the spreadsheet to Excel, make changes, and either save a copy of the worksheet or publish the changed spreadsheet.
When you publish a spreadsheet from Excel, most of the Excel features are retained and work the same way as in Excel. Features in the following list will work differently or will not be retained when published or saved as a spreadsheet on a Web page.
