With the introduction of Microsoft® Internet Explorer 4.0, Web page authors can now apply
multimedia-style effects to their content through the use of visual filters and transitions.
These effects are implemented in Web pages using a cascading style sheet (CSS) attribute.
Visual filters and transitions can be applied to standard HTML controls, such as text containers,
images, and any other windowless object. Transitions are time-varying filters that can create a
transition from one visual state to another. By combining filters and transitions with basic
scripting, authors have a powerful tool for creating visually engaging and interactive
documents.
