POLYNOMIAL
A mathematical expression of the form : Y = A + BX + CX2 +.... The MAN background correction used in Probe for EPMA Xtreme uses an iteration of this expression to calculate for major element backgrounds without the need for off-peak measurements. The user may select a 1st order (straight line) or 2nd order (parabolic) fit to the MAN data. The parabolic fit is the default.
