Specifying Setup Properties with an .ini File

SQL Server Setup

Updated: 5 December 2005

The SQL Server 2005 Setup program provides a command prompt interface in addition to the graphical user interface. Use command prompt syntax to customize the way Setup installs SQL Server 2005. Command prompt installations can be specified at the command prompt or in an .ini file.

Note:
Remote setup is not supported in this release. To install SQL Server 2005 on a remote computer, use a remote connection to run SQL Server Setup in user interface mode or from the command prompt. Record unattended (.iss) setup is not supported in this release.

For examples that show syntax to install or remove an instance of SQL Server 2005, see How to: Install SQL Server 2005 from the Command Prompt.
