Description
Returns an expression that has been converted to a Variant of subtype Single.
Syntax
CSng(expression)The expression argument is any valid expression.
Remarks
In general, you can document your code using the data type conversion functions to show that the result of some operation should be expressed as a particular data type rather than the default data type. For example, use CDbl or CSng to force double-precision or single-precision arithmetic in cases where currency or integer arithmetic normally would occur.Use the CSng function to provide internationally aware conversions from any other data type to a Single subtype. For example, different decimal separators are properly recognized depending on the locale setting of your system, as are different thousand separators.
If expression lies outside the acceptable range for the Single subtype, an error occurs.
The following example uses the CSng function to convert a value to a Single:
Dim MyDouble1, MyDouble2, MySingle1, MySingle2 ' MyDouble1, MyDouble2 are Doubles. MyDouble1 = 75.3421115: MyDouble2 = 75.3421555 MySingle1 = CSng(MyDouble1) ' MySingle1 contains 75.34211. MySingle2 = CSng(MyDouble2) ' MySingle2 contains 75.34216.
