Keyboard shortcuts for working in Datasheet view
You can use shortcut keys for quick access to frequently used commands or operations. The topics below list the shortcut keys available in the Datasheet view. You can also use access keys to move focus to different parts of the view without using the mouse.
- TAB
- Move selection from left to right, then down. If multiple cells are selected, move focus to the next cell within the selection.
- ENTER
- Move selection from top to bottom, then right. If multiple cells are selected, move focus to the next cell within the selection.
- SHIFT+TAB
- Move selection from right to left. If the current cell is the leftmost cell, SHIFT+TAB selects the last cell in the previous row.
- SHIFT+ENTER
- Select the cell above the current cell. If the current cell is the topmost cell, SHIFT+ENTER selects the last cell in the previous column.
- CTRL+TAB
- Cycles between the list, task pane, status bar, and controls in the browser window.
- CTRL+SHIFT+TAB
- Cycles between the list, task pane, status bar, and controls in the browser window in reverse direction.
- Arrow keys
- Move the selection in the direction of the arrow key.
- SHIFT+Arrow key
- Extend or reduce the selection in the direction of the arrow key.
- CTRL+Arrow key
- Move the selection to the last cell in the direction of the arrow key. If there are blank cells in that direction, move to the last cell preceding the first blank cell.
- CTRL+SHIFT+Arrow key
- Extend selection to the last cell in the direction of the arrow key. If there are blank cells in that direction, extend selection to the last cell preceding the first blank cell.
- Home
- Select the first cell in the current row.
- CTRL+Home
- Select the first cell in the first row.
- CTRL+End
- Select the last cell in the last row.
- SHIFT+Home
- Extend selection to the beginning of the current row.
- SHIFT+End
- Extend selection to the end of the current row.
- CTRL+SHIFT+Home
- Extend selection to the beginning of the list.
- CTRL+SHIFT+End
- Extend selection to the end of the column.
- CTRL+SPACEBAR
- Extend selection to the entire column.
If text in a cell is selected, and the column supports rich HTML formatting, clear formatting.
- SHIFT+SPACEBAR
- Extend selection to the entire row.
- CTRL+A
- Select the entire list.
- PAGE DOWN
- Scroll to the next list page.
- PAGE UP
- Display the previous list page.
- SHIFT+PAGE DOWN
- Extend a selection down one page.
- SHIFT+PAGE UP
- Extend a selection up one page.
- CTRL+BackSpace
- Scroll to display the current cell.
- SHIFT+F10
- Display the shortcut menu for the current selection.
- Underlined letter on a shortcut menu
- Carry out the shortcut menu command containing the underlined letter.
- ESC
- Undo changes to rows that have not yet been committed.
If a shortcut menu is visible, close the shortcut menu without carrying out a command.
In edit mode, cancel edit mode, and discard your changes.
- F1
- If the Datasheet view is in focus and not in edit mode, display Datasheet view Help. Else display Internet Explorer Help.
- F2
- Enter edit mode.
- Delete
- Clear current cell.
- F8
- Show the task pane.
- SHIFT+F8
- Hide the task pane.
- CTRL+C
- Copy selection to the Clipboard.
- CTRL+V
- Paste contents of the Clipboard.
- CTRL+X
- Move selection to the Clipboard.
- F7
- Show the Resolve Conflicts and Errors dialog box.
- ALT+SHIFT+F10
- If the selected cell contains presence information, display the Presence menu.
- ALT+F4
- Close the browser window.
- CTRL+Z
- Undo changes made to the current cell.
- CTRL+SHIFT+-
- Insert non-breaking hyphen.
- ALT+Down
- In a Total row, display the list of aggregate functions available for the current cell. In columns of type single line of text, display the list of existing values in the column.
Format a cell that supports rich HTML text
- CTRL+SHIFT+F
- Move focus to the Font list.
- CTRL+SHIFT+P
- Move focus to the Font size list.
- CTRL+B
- Apply Bold style to selection.
- CTRL+U
- Underline selection.
- CTRL+I
- Italicize selection.
- CTRL+L
- Justify selection to the left.
- CTRL+E
- Justify selection to the center.
- CTRL+R
- Justify selection to the right.
- CTRL+SHIFT+L
- Add bullets to selection.
- CTRL+M
- Increase indent.
- CTRL+SHIFT+M
- Decrease indent.
- CTRL+SPACEBAR
- Clear rich HTML text formatting in the current cell.
- ALT+SHIFT+DOWN
- Display the filter drop-down list for the selected column.
- ALT+SHIFT+DOWN
- Close the filter drop-down list.
- UP
- Move to the previous item in the filter drop-down list, when the list is displayed.
- DOWN
- Move to the next item in the filter drop-down list, when the list is displayed.
- HOME
- Move to the first item in the filter drop-down list, when the list is displayed.
- END
- Move to the last item in the filter drop-down list, when the list is displayed.
- Page Up, Page Down
- Move one page up or down in the filter drop-down list, when the list is displayed.
- ENTER
- Execute the selected item in the filter drop-down list, when the list is displayed.
