Language Bar

To change the speech recognition engine

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Speech.
  2. Click the Speech Recognition tab.
  3. Under Language, select the speech recognition engine you prefer.

Notes

  • If you select a different speech recognition engine, you must restart each speech-enabled program before the new engine is used.
  • Each speech recognition engine is language-specific, and may be region-specific. For example, the Microsoft English ASR Version 5 Engine is intended for speakers of U.S. English. British, Australian, and other non-U.S. English speakers may have difficulty using it, due to variations in accent.
