Adding Current Rx

To prescribe a new medicine to the patient right click on current Rx screen and select add item from the context menu. This will open a drug search window. Type the first few letters of the drug you want to prescribe and hit search. This will give you a list of drugs and their details. For more details about drug search click here.

Double-click the drug you want to prescribe from the list.  This will open another window where you can specify the dosage etc. for the drug.

Here you need to specify dosage, frequency and instruction. None of this is mandatory. This window also has a check box "Save as default dose". If this is checked it will save the dosage, frequency and instruction for that drug so that if the same medicine is prescribed again by the same user these will be pre-filled with the values.

The “Other” button lets you specify custom instruction for the drug. Clicking the other button will open another form. For more detail about custom instructions click here.

At the bottom there are three buttons “Regular” “Once Only” and “Cancel”. If "Regular" is selected then the drug will be added to the list of regular medications and will stay in the current Rx screen.
"Once only" will prescribe the drug for the patient only for this visit and therefore the drug will not stay in the Current Rx list of regular medications. Selecting cancel will cancel prescribing this medicine.

While prescribing the medicine the software may give warnings for allergy, interactions with other drugs, pregnancy, sports. The doctor can decide not to prescribe the drug when any such warnings might occur.

Drug Search

To search a drug, enter the first few letters of the drug and hit enter. Alternatively you can search a drug by class. When you click search by class it will open a box on the left side with a list of classes of drugs. Besides the name of the class there are + signs which when clicked will open the sub classes within that class. If you click on a subclass you will see the list of drugs in that subclass on the right side.

The drugs list come in different colors depending upon the PBS type of the drug. The legend of colors is shown at the bottom of the drug search screen.

Here you can type a custom instruction. Optionally you can also check the “Save New”. If you check “Save New” you must give a name to the instruction in the box below.

Once you save it with save new checked, the next time you open the custom instruction again it will have the previous saved items on the left side.
