Configuring a TEDS Carrier

To configure a TEDS carrier, complete the following steps:

  1. Expand Devices and Interfaces»NI-DAQmx Devices.

If you are using a remote RT target, expand Remote Systems, find and expand your target, and expand Devices and Interfaces»NI-DAQmx Devices.

  2. Right-click the TEDS carrier you want to configure. Select Properties.
  3. The TEDS carrier configuration window opens with the following configuration settings:

    Channels

Select a sensor for each channel from the Channel drop-down list.

    Device

Select a detected DAQ device from the Device drop-down list.

    Carrier ID

Enter a unique alphanumeric name as an ID to identify this TEDS carrier in applications. MAX rejects any name with invalid characters, such as punctuation.

    2096 Address

In the 2096 Address text box, enter the appropriate carrier address setting. The correct carrier jumper settings are shown in the interactive DIP switch graphic in the configuration window. Make sure the software setting matches the actual address setting on the TEDS carrier. You also can click the DIP switches in the graphic to match your existing hardware settings. The BNC-2096 address updates automatically to match the DIP switch graphic.

    Scan for TEDS

Click to scan the carrier channels for transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS)-compatible sensors. MAX populates channels with detected sensors.

  4. Click OK when you are finished.
